After the shocking assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran, a video has now emerged which shows Haniyeh hours before he was killed by Israel.
The incident which has rocked the Middle East and could probably have severe ramifications on the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, has made way for further escalation in tensions.
Ismail Haniyeh was in Tehran for the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to a CNN report, Hamas spokesperson and deputy head Khalil Al-Hayya said a rocket directly hit Haniyeh’s room in which he was staying.

Khalil further added that Israel will have to pay the price for the heinous crime. Now, in a purported video released by Iran’s media, Haniyah could be seen interacting with a journalist.
Haniyeh reportedly visited a theme park exhibition of the “Axis of Resistance” landmarks, along with the leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Ziad al-Nakhaleh, just hours ahead of his death.
Israel had earlier vowed to kill Haniyeh as Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year and killed over 1,200 people and took over 200 people hostage. In retaliation, Israel has killed over 39,000 people in the Gaza war.
The Hamas militant group has now vowed to take revenge for the killing of his political leader. Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said, “This assassination by the Israeli occupation of Brother Haniyeh is a grave escalation that aims to break the will of Hamas.”
Israel on the other hand attacked senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Lebanon’s capital Beirut and said that it was for revenge against the killing of 12 children and teenagers in the Israel occupied Golan Heights.
With killings in Tehran and Beirut by Tel Aviv, the broadening of the war and opening up of new regional conflicts have become a reality which will destabilise the geopolitical landscape.
