Daljit Chaudhary given additional charge as BSF DG, day after Centre repatriated Nitin Agrawal to state cadre | India News

A day after removing Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Nitin Agrawal and repatriating him to his home state, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Daljit Singh Chaudhary, Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), as the Acting Director General of the BSF. Chaudhary will hold the position until a regular appointment is made or further orders are issued.

This decision follows a surge in terror incidents and infiltration attempts in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Jammu region. Data reveals that up to July 21 this year, 14 civilians and 14 security personnel have been killed, with 24 encounters or counter-terror operations and 11 terror-related incidents reported.

Additionally, Agrawal’s deputy, Special Director General (West) Y. B. Khurania, has also been removed and repatriated to his state cadre with immediate effect.
