of the 118 suspected cases of Chandipura Acute Viral Encephalitis (CHPV) reported in Gujarat so far, 23 people have tested positive since the outbreak of the disease, said a state government statement on Wednesday.
The state has also reported a total of 41 deaths of suspected and positive cases.
The highest number of confirmed CHPV positive cases have been reported from Sabarkantha and Panchmahal districts at three each.
At five deaths, maximum fatality has been reported from Panchmahal district, followed by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation reporting four deaths and Aravalli, Morbi, Rajkot and Banaskantha with three deaths each.
The state government also said that currently a total of 54 suspected CHPV cases have been admitted for viral encephalitis in the state while 23 have been discharged. In addition to the cases from the state, two patients each from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and one suspected CHPV case from Maharashtra are currently undergoing treatment in Gujarat.
