A 54-year-old man and his wife were booked after a 47-year-old woman, with whom he was in an extra-marital relationship, accused the wife of sharing their intimate photos online after she discovered about the affair.
The woman alleged her beau secretly photographed and recorded their intimate videos, which were later sent to her husband and other family members by his wife.
According to police, the woman stays with her husband and daughter in a posh housing society in central Mumbai. In her statement to the police, the woman said that in 2017, the 54-year-old man came to stay on the same floor with his wife and two children.
“Around 2019, we became friends and later the friendship turned into a relationship. We both started talking over the phone and one day, he called me to his house when his wife and children were not home. Since then, whenever there was no one at his home, we would meet at his place,” said the complainant.
However on July 15, the woman got a call from his wife who started inquiring about their relationship. As the man was not at home, the 47-year-old disconnected the call and later went to his house where his wife showed her their intimate photos and videos.
“The woman claims that she was shocked as the accused had secretly taken those photos and even video recorded their intimate moments. She started requesting his wife not to share them with anyone else,” said a police officer.
The same day, the man’s wife initially sent those photos to the complainant’s relatives and subsequently made those videos public. The complainant told the police, “As she had defamed me, it was causing a lot of mental trauma to me and my family members. Even then, I did not lodge a complaint to the police.”
However on Tuesday, the complainant’s relative received a call from an unknown number asking for those photos and videos. “As he threatened to make those videos viral by posting them on porn websites, the woman got afraid, following which she reported the matter to the police and lodged a complaint,” said a police officer.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and Information Technology Act for voyeurism, defamation and criminal intimidation.
