More traffic curbs in Ghaziabad as inflow of Kanwariyas to increase from today | Delhi News

The Ghaziabad police on Sunday issued more traffic restrictions after a car allegedly hit a few Kanwariyas at the Rawali Road cut on the Delhi-Meerut route in the Muradnagar area on Saturday afternoon. Later, the Kanwariyas created a ruckus, blocked the road for around 30 minutes, thrashed the driver, and vandalised the vehicle alleging that their Kanwar was desecrated.

The inflow of Kanwariyas will also increase in Ghaziabad from Monday. According to the new route diversion for trucks, buses, canters, tractors, etc, vehicles coming from the Delhi side — Tulsi Niketan border, Seemapuri border, and Anand Vihar border — towards Ghaziabad will be restricted.

“All the above vehicles will go to their destination using Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg (Road No. 56) to UP Gate (Ghazipur border) and after that along National Highway No-09,” said Veerendra Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

The police said vehicles coming from Delhi towards places like Haridwar, Amroha, Moradabad, Lucknow, etc, will go through UP Gate (Ghazipur border), National Highway No 9, Dasna Intersection, and then along the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to reach their destination.

Vehicles coming from Hapur and Bulandhshahr towards Ghaziabad city via Dasna Railway Overbridge will be restricted. These vehicles will go to their destination using National Highway No 9. The movement of vehicles from the Loni border towards Loni town will be completely restricted. Apart from this, the movement of vehicles from Santosh Medical Cut (NH-9) towards Meerut Tiraha will also be completely prohibited.

Thousands of Kanwariya, or devotees of Lord Shiva, go to Gangotri, Gaumukh, and Haridwar in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch water from the Ganga during the Hindu month of Shravan.
