Metro services hit on Bengaluru’s Green line for over 1.5 hours after fault in power supply system | Bangalore News

A fault in the power supply system at 5.33 pm on Tuesday disrupted Metro services on the Green line in Bengaluru. The Green line (North-South) corridor connects Nagasandra and Silk Institute.

The disruption in the power supply went on for almost one and half hours, following which it was restored. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) in a statement said, “Power supply has been restored. Trains services started from RV road towards Silk Institute from 19: 05 hrs. Normalcy will be restored as per timetable in due course of time.”

As a result of the fault, trains were operating only between Nagasandra and R V Road Metro stations. The disruption caused distress to many passengers who overcrowded at R V Road Metro station. The disruption came during the peak hour when many commuters travel back home after work.

In an earlier statement, the BMRCL said, “On account of Fault in Power supply system from 17.33 hrs, Metro trains in green line are running between Nagasandra and RV Road metro station only. Inconvenience caused is regretted.”

Meanwhile, netizens took to social media and slammed the BMRCL for frequent disruptions in Metro services due to technical reasons. X user V N Swamy said, “Every 15days… metro breakdown is very common this shld be only metro in the world to face this kind of troubles.”

Some commuters also claimed that nearly 800 people are stranded at R V Road Metro station due to the disruptions. Another X user, Nachiketh Nadig, wrote, “Bengaluru metro train services suspended towards Silk Institute i.e green line. Travel your plan accordingly. 800+ people stranded in rv road metro. Utter chaos. Metro should be prepared for such situations. Reason is power cut. Such a state of the art infrastructure and power cut? Is this what taxpayers are payi!g their hard earned money to?? And then they brag about freebies when the entire finance of the state has gone haywire. A common man is troubled.”
