Maharashtra Opposition slams BJP over clean chit to Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Waikar | Mumbai News

A day after the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) filed a closure report in the Jogeshwari land case giving a clean chit to Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Waikar, his wife, and four close associates, the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Saturday slammed the Maharashtra government terming the BJP a ‘washing machine that cleans tainted leaders once they join the ruling alliance’.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut took a dig at the BJP saying that now only fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim is left to get a clean chit from the Maharashtra government.

“Now what remains is to give a clean chit to Dawood. The BJP should accept that they have filed these cases to create fear. CM Eknath Shinde also went with them out of fear. Ravindra Waikar left Uddhav Thackeray and joined the Shinde faction out of fear of the ED. False cases are filed against our people and efforts are being made to put pressure on us. But, if the complaint was filed based on incomplete information and misunderstanding then my demand… is that action should be taken against the EOW head,” Raut said.

Hitting out at the government over the clean chit, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said, “The state has for the first time heard that cases can also be filed based on misunderstanding… How many such cases have been filed because of a misunderstanding? Or is it that such cases are registered only against Opposition leaders?”

“Even if the police have registered a case because of some misunderstanding, the people of Maharashtra have understood the functioning of the corrupt BJP’s washing machine,” he added.
