Maharashtra Government worried over unsatisfactory pace Kharif sowing In the state, which has been completed at 13% Kharif Area as against 100% coverage during the corresponding period of last year.
The state cabinet today discussed the status of Kharif sowing in the state. The state has so far received 134 mm of rain, compared to 270 mm last year. Kharif sowing in the state was completed on this date last year.
“This year, however, only 20.30 lakh hectare area has been sown, which is 13% of the total area,” a government release said.
Maharashtra is the second largest producer of Cotton And Soybean and has one of the highest areas in rainfed conditions.
The state government will review the water supply status of the cities on Wednesday. Mumbai has already started cutting water, while Pune is supplying it.
