State-owned NHAI has created a Guinness World Record for longest continuous bituminous lane of 75 km in 105 hours and 33 minutes on a national highway between Amravati and Akola districts in Maharashtra.
Referring to the record, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that the project was implemented by 720 workers, including a team of independent consultants, who worked day and night.
The total length of 75 km of single lane continuous bituminous concrete road is equivalent to 37.5 km of two-lane paved shoulder road and the work started at 7:27 am on June 3 and was completed at 5 pm on June 7, the minister said in a video message. said in.
Gadkari said that the previous Guinness World Record for longest continuous bituminous construction was for the construction of 25.275 km road, which was achieved in February 2019 in Doha, Qatar and the work was completed in 10 days.
The Amravati to Akola section is part of NH 53 and is an important east-east corridor connecting major cities like Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur and Surat.
According to Gadkari, once completed, this section will play a major role in easing the movement of traffic and goods on this route.
He also congratulated all the engineers, contractors, consultants, workers of NHAI and Raj Path Infracon Pvt Ltd for the efficient implementation of the project which helped in achieving this world record successfully.
