Mumbai on Saturday reported 889 new coronavirus infections, an increase from 763 cases a day earlier.

The caseload in the metropolis rose to 10,68,897 and the death toll rose to 19,568, a civic official said.

The city had recorded 846 cases on February 4, after which there was a decline in cases. But in the last few days this number started increasing.

Leaving the city with an active caseload of 4,294 from 3,735 on Friday, the number of recoveries rose by 329 to 10,45,035.

Of the 889 new cases, only 45 required hospitalization and three of them required oxygen support, the official said, adding that the city currently occupies 154 COVID beds and 14 patients on oxygen support. are on.

Data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shows that the total number of tests conducted in the city in the last 24 hours stood at 1,71,75,173, including 10,257.

The recovery rate was 98 per cent, the overall growth rate of cases between May 28 and June 3 was 0.049 per cent, while the caseload doubling time was 1,396 days.
