To prevent incidents of stampede, the UP Police has issued an SOP for crowd and police management at large events. This comes after a stampede in Hathras on July 2 that left 121 dead. The SOP covers four main areas: continuous action to be taken in view of the crowd-caused disaster; advance preparations for events; emergency actions during a stampede; and overall event management.
