With the Khadakwasla Dam filled amid the incessant rainfall, the Pune administration on Wednesday released its water into the Mutha from the dam and issued an alert to people living along the river
The catchment area of the Khadakwasla Dam, which is immediately upstream of the Mutha River and cuts across the city, has been receiving good rainfall for the last few days. The rain has filled the dam and the administration has started releasing water in the river at a speed of 9416 cusecs since 7 am.
People who live along the river in the city and rural areas have been alerted to move to safe zones to avoid any untoward incident. There are few bridges and roads in the city which get submerged after the release of the water into the Mutha River. Several citizens also park their vehicles on the riverbed.
